Fabric Folding Video Tutorial
Happy Wednesday! Today I have a new post to share for my Sewing Room Organization Series, a fabric folding video tutorial! I've been folding my fabric this way for many years, and I actually have an old video tutorial that I filmed back in January 2011! It seemed like high time to make a new (and hopefully improved) video tutorial.
In this tutorial I fold 8 different size fabric cuts, plus share a bonus folding tip. This method can be adapted to just about any size cut that's around a yard or less. Specifically in the video I show how to fold a fat quarter, 1/2 yard, 1 yard, 3/4 yard, 1/4 yard, 1/3 yard, fat eighth, and 1/8 yard. The best thing about this folding method is that all the cuts (except the 1/8 yard), end up the same size when folded. This makes things so easy to arrage in your stash storage of choice!
If you're having trouble watching the video in this post, click here to watch it on Youtube.
I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial! I have lots of other tutorials for everything from quilts, pillows, bags, and holiday items to informational series and techniques. Find all my tutorials here: Tutorials. My online shop is filled with patterns for quilts and bags. Find my patterns here: Jeni Baker Patterns

Happy Sewing!
This is great, useful information. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI like to fold my fabrics using a 6'' wide ruler. I wrap the fabric around the ruler and then fold in half and then half again. My folding is similar to your method. Larger yardage pieces are just folded once so that they don't take up too much shelf space. Many of my smaller pieces are stacked in the collapsible fabric baskets that I picked up at the Dollar Tree years ago. These baskets are a variety of colors, and the matching fabrics just pop in there easily.
ReplyDeleteThanks for so many useful tips, patterns and creative ideas for quilting and sewing.
