Time to share another quilt from my book, Patchwork Essentials: The Half-Square Triangle! You can find all the posts about Patchwork Essentials using the MY BOOK link at the top of every page, or here.


I'm going to share each quilt, in order, with the exception of a few that I've already shared. We're now in the Patchwork Play chapter. The Citrus Peel quilt is first up, I shared that quilt here: Citrus Peel Quilt. Now it's time for the Triplicate quilt!

This quilt is a twist on one of my most popular quilt tutorials, the Patchwork Chevron Quilt. The basic technique is to create half-square triangles with nine-patch blocks. It really stretches your fabric, so it's perfect for using with extra special prints! It's also a very quick make, so a good one for when you need to make a quilt for a gift on short notice.


For the colors I used a slight variation on primary colors, pulling mostly blenders. The print I used on the back (the yellow floral with pops of coral) is one of my favorites, and kind of set up the entire color palette. It's from an older collection by Art Gallery Fabrics called Chromatic.


The quilting was done by Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Quilting. I chose the design Take Five, which is all triangles. It felt like I had to have at least one quilt with a triangular quilting design in the book!

May Monthly Report

Happy June! It's time for May's monthly report. See past reports here.

One of my favorite makes of this month was this tiny drawstring bag that I turned into a backpack for a softie! Finding the perfect scale prints and the perfect model was quite fun! (The tiny bunny fabric is by Sevenberry.) This is the tiny size in my pattern which you can find here: Lined Drawstring Bag Pattern.


I also made a patchwork drawstring bag this month, in festive Memorial Day style! It was fun to dig into my red and white scraps for this bag. I've got a tutorial for making a patchwork bag here: Patchwork Drawstring Bag Tutorial.


Another little afternoon project I made this month as a small pin banner. I realized I had enough Harry Potter pins to fill one, so now they're all in one place. This book fabric seemed perfect for it! It's from Literary by Heather Givans. Make one too with my tutorial: Enamel Pin Banner Tutorial.


To keep myself accountable for my stash goals, I track my yardage for fabric and yarn each month. Read more about how I track here. Here is how I did in May:

Another month without bringing in ANY fabric! I am feeling really good about this. It's taken me such a long time to get to this point, but I'm really enjoying just working from my stash. I'm overwhelmed by what I already have, so I know I don't need to bring in more right now. I mainly worked on little projects this month, but I did bind a quilt! Will be sharing that soon.


One of my projects this month was to get my scraps organized. I dumped them all out on the floor and got all my quilting cotton scraps organized by color. I think it will make my monthly scrap project making a lot easier!


A little greenery from last month, our Beauty Bush in full bloom!


My major scrap project this month was a new bed for George! He is so tiny that I have a hard time finding beds his size. I used a store bought one as a guide and whipped this one up with some leftover sweatshirt fleece. If you're looking for a good one, this Organic Cotton Fleece from Birch Fabrics is human and rabbit approved! :)
