Happy Thursday! Today I will be brief, as I turned out to be quite chatty yesterday! For the most part this quilt speaks for itself. This quilt was made for my Spring Quilt Market Booth for Geometric Bliss.
I love using my Arithmetic Quilt Pattern is show off fabrics. I seem to have made one from nearly all of my lines (see here and here), with the exception of Color Me Retro. It is simple but striking. It seemed wrong not to make one from Geometric Bliss! This was one of the last projects I made for the booth, so I used what I had left. I made one of the baby sizes!
I had a lot of fun picking thread to quilt this. Lucky for me, I had lots of options in my Favorite Things Aurifil Thread Collection. I ended up going with the minty thread!
For the quilting, I kept it simple with diagonal lines. I love this type of quilting.
I bound it up in Apricot Crepe Pure Elements. This was one of those projects that went from fabric picking to finishing in less than 24 hours. Not bad!

ReplyDeleteYou turned around a quilt in 24 hours?! You're my hero! And this one is so up my alley: I love "simple but striking" quilts with straight-line quilting. The simple geometry lets the fabric take the spotlight. Love it!

ReplyDeleteLovely, the peach binding really gives it a zesty finish. Diagonal quilting is wonderful and I am so pleased you are showcasing it here and showing how beautiful it can look. Straight line is the only kind of quilting many beginners or owners of older machines can do, including me.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get all of your squares to line up perfectly? I try and try, but they always end up a little off.
ReplyDeleteI nestle all my seams when doing patchwork, it's a lifesaver! I alternate pressing directions every other row (press row 1 seams to the left, row 2 seams to the right, row 3 seams to the left, and so on). This makes matching the seams a lot easier!

DeleteI just finished this amazing quilt....well, almost. I'm putting the binding on now. I used several Paris themed fabrics and chose to do the largest blocks to show off that wonderful French flair. Thank you for the pattern! (I'll definitely be using it again). I give most of my work away to family members but this one will go to my husband for Valentine's day. Is there a way to post a picture of it here somewhere?
