Spring Quilt Market Booth
Monday, June 2, 2014
Happy Monday! I hope you're all ready for a ton photos today! I went through some of my Quilt Market photos this past weekend, yay! This market was a little different for me in that I did not have my own full booth. The lovely folks at Art Gallery Fabrics put together a great central display and I had a 12' wall to fill to show Geometric Bliss! I think I ended up making about the same amount of projects as I would have anyways, but it was easier to decorate and in the end looked more full. I think this was my most successful display, personally!
I had a sign printed up this time! I used Spoonflower to have a panel printed and then quilted it iwth Aurifil threads. I managed to save a piece of each print in the collection for the binding. I love when an idea turns out exactly as I imagine!
Here is a full shot of the booth! I'm so pleased with how it came together in the end. Don't get me wrong, it was still stressful, but I think knowing I didn't have as much space made it easier!
I drove to Ohio a few days early and got loads of help completing things for the booth. My Mom and I sewed for three days straight basically! My Dad helped me build this awesome quilt ladder! I am so glad we tackled this project, it was simple and made things a lot easier to display. Plus I managed to find a place for it in our apartment, so double bonus! It's based on this tutorial by Blair Stocker, we tweaked the measurements so that it would fit in our car!
I had a new postcard pattern to show, made from Geometric Bliss! It's called Fractal, and the design is derived from one of the prints in the collection, Tessellate. I love how this one turned out! I loopy doodle quilted it using my Favorite Things Aurifil thread collection (which I've ordered for my shop!). Will share more about this quilt soon!
It wouldn't be Quilt Market without a million drawstring bags! They show off prints so well, plus they're cute and fun! Will share more about all these projects soon!
My trusty dress form made the trip again, but this time not stuffed into a suitcase! ;)
I recovered the seat of a long folding chair we already had on hand. I think it turned out so cute1 It was such an easy project, and it was free to boot!
I love how the collections look on the hangers! Geometric Bliss has 20 quilting cottons prints, all shipping in September.
There are two voiles and four knits! So, the Art Gallery knits! I had not felt them until I got there. They are AWESOME! Seriously, I'm dying to sew with them. They are a 95% cotton, 5% spandex jersey knits. They have a two-way stretch and are 58"-60" wide. I think the best way to describe them is like this: if a cotton interlock and a jersey knit had a baby, this would be it! They bounce back really nicely and are so soft. Cannot wait until they are here! The voiles are awesome too of course! We love our voile pillowcases I made from Art Gallery voiles last year. So soft! I'm going to make all the clothes!
Okay, that's quite enough to be getting on with for now! Have a great day!
If you're a shop interested in carrying Geometric Bliss, it can be ordered through Art Gallery Fabrics. Find your sales rep here, or call toll-free (888) 420-5399.

Everything is beautiful! My husband made me a quilt ladder and I'm trying to decide on paint color. I think I will go with my original choice of white after seeing yours!
ReplyDeleteAwesome booth!!!! Love the new fabric line and how you recovered the folding chair cushion. There may be a quilt ladder in my future!
ReplyDeleteI am already saving for a bundle of this line!!! Gorgeous display. I LOVE the Spoonflower banner! And Fractal looks like it will certainly show up on my to-make list! Love all your patterns!!! :)
ReplyDeleteDo you make everything in your booth? What do you do with all the things you make for Quilt Market? You must have drawstring bags coming out your ears.
ReplyDeleteI do! This was the first time I had help sewing from my Mom, but otherwise it's just me! Haha, I literally have a million drawstring bags! Currently, I keep them all, but I think this summer I'm going to have a little sample sale!
Deleteit was amazing and looked so great! cheers to the Baker fam!
ReplyDeleteI think your booth is lovely and KNITS! I'm super excited :)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Fractal pattern. I got it as soon as you posted it was available and can't wait to make it (once I get three pressing priority projects done)

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Haha, my lack of sleep led me to run out of things to say partway through, but it was fun! :)
DeleteIt was a beautiful booth, it made me smile each time I walked past!
ReplyDeleteYour booth is gorgeous! I love your booth sign (my mom quilted a sign for me if you'd like inspiration for your next collection: http://www.froggeddesigns.com/2014/04/craft-fair-sign.html ). I can't believe how many weeks/months it must've taken you to sew all that stuff - the quilt ladder and the seat cover are my favourites! :)
ReplyDeleteEverything is beautiful, Jeni! It was so, SO great to finally meet you!

ReplyDeleteYour booth looks fantastic! The bunny is super cute. Any chance you might post a free pattern for a limited time? :)
ReplyDeleteThe bunny is a free tutorial that can be found here: http://themaryfrancesproject.blogspot.com/2011/10/jack-rabbit-softie-free-pattern.html
DeleteThanks Jeni, my daughter will be quite happy.
DeleteHi Jeni!
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me what the name is of the pattern for the bag your dress form is 'wearing'? Please!
I have been following you for quite some time and really enjoy your blog. I have jumped on the web and have started a blog, and would welcome you to subscribe. I also would like to design a fabric line(I have a notebook full of sketches) and want to know how to get started.
Thanks,

It's the Snap Tote pattern, it can be found here: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/accessory/snap-tote/62242
DeleteI love the dress too! Did you mention the pattern name? Love how you mixed up fabrics and your ladder is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a blouse and an apron. The top pattern can be found here: http://boutique.deer-and-doe.fr/9-sewing-patterns-datura-blouse.html
DeleteOoh, it was so fun to look thru. your pictures. I wish I could be there. Your 12' wall is perfect and I love all your samples. I can't wait for it to come out in Sept.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I especially love the quilt hanging on the wall and I'm super excited about the knits!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you rocked your market display! I love that banner, and the bunting! Ooh, and the wide stripe on the skirt is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI love your Geometric Bliss fabrics. I can't wait to try the knits and the voile too! Turquoise prints are my most favorite ones. But do love some from the other colorway too! Just awesome!
ReplyDeleteI adore the half square triangle quilt at the bottom of your quilt ladder, you need to make a kit up for it - those colours and prints are just perfect! speaking of quilt ladders I have just (in a very unsubtle way) sent the link through to my guy with the hopes I'll come home from work one day to see one sitting in my sewing room :D
ReplyDeleteYour booth looks like a nice place to visit.
