Sewing, Thrifting, and Catching Up!

Staple Dresses by Jeni Baker

Happy Thursday! Taking a little break from sewing this evening to share a few snippets of this week with you! We're in the final countdown to Quilt Market, so I'm trying to squeeze in as many more projects as I can!

I did manage to do a little non-market sewing a few weeks ago and stitch up my second Staple Dress.  The Staple Dress Pattern is a fantastic dress pattern by April Rhodes.  It's an easy sew with a great fit, I love it! I don't have to make any adjustments, it's perfect as is! I've made three so far, including a muslin, and have quite a few more planned!

Carnaby Staple Dress by Jeni Baker

For this one I used this beautiful floral from Pat Bravo's Carnaby Street collection.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I'd need a dress from it.  I love how it turned out! Unfortunately it was a bit dark when we took photos of me wearing it, so they're a bit blurry.  You can see a better photo of the dress here!

You can find the Staple Dress Pattern for sale on April's blog, here.

Jeans Refashion - After

I was pretty pleased with my first successful refashion last week! I thrifted a pair of fancy (for me!) White House Black Market bootcut jeans in my size for $7.  I took in the leg below the knee to make them "skinny", and it actually worked! I used a mix of this tutorial and this one. You can see them before the alteration here.

Thrifting

One of the local thrift shops had a fabric sale last week, and I ended up going in hopes of finding some vintage goodies.  It was a bit of a madhouse, lots of people! I did manage to find a few things!

Pyrex Passion by Jeni Baker

I am so excited to share this great new resource guide for vintage pyrex, Pyrex Passion! I may be a bit biased, because those are my photos on the cover! I was so tickled when Michael contacted me about working on the cover of his book.  This guide is much more comprehensive than the other guides out there, I'm so proud to have been involved in some small way! You can find it for sale here.

MMQG Scrap Swap by Jeni Baker

Last year we had a scrap swap at one of the Madison Modern Quilt Guild meetings.  I got paired up with Kris! She made me this super cute mini quilt! I can't wait to hang it up in my sewing room, it's so happy! I made her a string block zipper pouch, which I totally forgot to take a photo of.  Thanks Kris! :)

New business cards by Jeni Baker

I was starting to run low on business cards, so I went ahead and ordered new ones last month.  I switched things up a bit from last time, but George is still on there! I've been getting my cards printed by Uprinting.com for the past two years now, they always do a really nice job!

It's so surreal to see my patterns for sale at The Sewcial Lounge here in Madison! Makes it all seem so real!
