Aurifil Block of the Month and Magazine Features
Sunday, March 3, 2013
Hi There! I'm excited to share some fun features with you today! I am so pleased to be a part of the Aurifil Designer Block of the Month this year! I'm among some really talented ladies, it's a true honor! Each month, one of us is sharing a pieced quilt block featuring Pat Bravo's Rock n' Romance collection. Stitch up a block and share it in the flickr group for a chance to win a special Aurifil thread prize each month! The lovely Pat Sloan interviews the designer each month and posts the block instructions.
March is my month! You can find my interview, block, and block instructions here!
We were asked to design a block based on our favorite classic rock song! I choose "The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel!
I also stitched my block up in Color Me Retro, just for fun! I've been sewing random test blocks here and there, I think I'll eventually have enough for a big sampler quilt!
I have two more magazine features to share with you today too! The first is in the newest issue of Generation Q, Spring 2013! Look at that sweet baby on the cover! You'll find a photo of my Hexagon Ring Pincushion (tutorial), in the trendology article on hexagons!
Jake Finch also wrote a really lovely article on Art Gallery Fabrics and all the new designers. I was so totally tickled to see Color Me Retro decorating the article! There are so many great projects in this issue too!
You can find this issue on newsstands now. For a list of online shops that carry the magazine see here.
The next feature is an awesome brand new UK magazine called Love Quilting & Patchwork! It's put out by the same publisher that bring us Mollie Makes. It's everything you'd expect if Mollie Makes was all about quilting. There are loads of sweet projects and the magazine is fresh and colorful. I am so happy to be included in it, and I really hope it does well! I want more issues! :)
My contribution is a block from our Half-Square Triangle Block of the Month Quilt and a how-to on half-square triangles!
The always sweet Katy Jones also kindly mentioned my Giant Vintage Star Quilt in her fun Love a Bit More article! Thanks Katy, you're the best!
You can find this magazine on newsstands in the UK, and it will be popping up at Barnes & Noble and Jo-Ann Stores by mid-March in the US!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all your fabulous accomplishments! I have been participating in the Aurifil BOM and love your block! It looks like a great one to make.
ReplyDeleteI really love your rock-inspired quilt block in those gorgeous floral prints! I'm also excited about the magazines you're showing. I've never seen Generation Q before -- any idea where I can find it? The new British magazine looks great, too. Congratulations on your continued success. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's available at Barnes & Noble and Jo-Ann!
DeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to see a sampler quilt if you make it. What a fun project!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations,that`s fabulous!!I`ve never see Generation Q here.
ReplyDeleteI love this block! I am already drafting up plans to make it a 16" for a shop sample with Denyse Schmidts new line Shelbourne Falls! It's perfect!
ReplyDeleteOoooh! Can't wait to see!
DeleteGreat new Aurifil block. I have never seen those 2 magazines before. will have to be on the alert for them. Congrtulations to the winner.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being in magazines. Also wonderful interview. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jeni! I have been looking for Love Quilting at my local Jo-Ann, but they don't have it yet. I guess I have to stop by Barnes and Noble.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all those great magazines you're in. Love the Aurifil block you did this month. Great interview too and HOW have I missed all this time following your blog that you are in Madison? I had no idea. How cool. I'm only an hour from there. Reading the things Pat had to say/ask I think you better watch her or she's going to come visit and sneak George out in her bags. LOL Of course, who wouldn't want to do just that since he's so adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Jeni. Stay safe today if you're out on the roads, although I don't think you're supposed to get the amount of snow we are. My poor hubby tried going to work today and after almost being hit 3 times before he hit Janesville (he works in Madison) he turned around and came back home knowing the roads are just going to get much worse as the day goes on. They're saying we could see as much as 12 inches of snow today. ICK!
Wow, you are one busy, crafty kind of gal. :-) Congrats on all the features! Keep up the great work... so inspiring!
