Happy Monday! I'm happy to kick the week off with a much anticipated finish! This quilt was born out of scraps from my Mendocino Dreams Quilt back in March. I needed some mindless piecework, and the center patchwork came out of that.
Since the original quilt is a King size, and we currently only have a double bed, I'm not able to use it on a daily basis. That was why I decided to sash the patchwork nice and big to turn it into a throw size quilt I could enjoy all the time. With all that negative space, I knew it needed a super special quilting treatment. That's where my dear friend Christina comes in!
I sent off the top to her and asked her to just have fun quilting it. She's the queen of doodling, so I knew her idea of fun would be just perfect for this quilt! I'll let the photos do the talking, but lets just say I spent about half an hour staring at this quilt with my mouth open when the package arrived last week. The quilting is AMAZING!
I love that every time I look at the quilt I find a different surprise in the quilting. There is a lot going on, but it's not over-quilted, it's still extremely soft and drapey. Just perfect!! Thank you, Christina, for taking such good care of my quilt, you really brought it to life. It is a true treasure! :)
Another quilt checked off the list! Now it's all washed, wrinkly, and ready to be snuggled!
Happy Quilting!
This is absolutely gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteWOW! My mouth is hanging open too. Gorgeous job Christina!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the purple and the quilting well and of course the main fabric :) wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteDid I miss it in your post--is that purple a Kaffe shot cotton? Or is it some AG solid wonderfulness? (Your last post has me dreaming of a big pile of AG solids, yum.) Whatever it is, it is stunning!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a shot cotton! Its very similar in color to Cabernet in the AG solids! :)
DeleteIt is soooo amazing! I love everything she did on it. I know once I get mine back it will be hard to quilt anything myself again. I just left a ton of comments of flickr but really to bad we don't live next to eachother to get pictures of our quilts together once I get mine back from her. Enjoy yours it really is fabulous.
