Hello! Happy October! It's going to be a crazy, crazy month around here! But, I'm taking things one thing at a time, so for now let's just chat!
I spent most of today quilting! I'm trying concentric circles for the first time! I love how it's turning out, but man is it time consuming! Glad it's worth it though! This tutorial from Blooming Poppies has been really helpful.
This week's small project is trying to stitch up my first frame purse! Using Pat Bravo's Rock 'n Romance! Will report back on how it goes! I bought my frame and glue from While Baby Naps.
Bari J's new line, Splendor 1920 arrived on my doorstep this week! Absolutely loving the colors, especially for Fall! Can't wait to dig into these!
Hung up some very happy artwork in our apartment! Sweet Erin sent me this awesome Pyrex poster from Pocono Modern! It looks great with my vintage Pyrex! :)
This weekend I had my first caramel apple! OH MY! Why did I wait so long to try one? So, so delicious!

Are you using a free arm machine for the concentric circles or is it a small quilt. I love the look but have no idea how to get it at home.

ReplyDeleteJeni! I just got a fun idea, and I know you are the one that could totally make it happen. When I saw that pyrex-ish artwork above, I actually thought it was a paper pieced mini-quilt. I would paper piece it myself, but I haven't tried that yet. What do you think? That would be a cute mini quilt for a kitchen or breakfast nook!

ReplyDeleteYou can get very much the same effect with a lot less stopping and starting if you stitch a spiral instead. Just start very small: getting the spiral going within a small circle is relatively easy. I've actually drawn the beginning and then stitched on the drawn line.
I haven't done this in a quilt size but I've used it in several zippered pouches and at least one bag. A spiral looks very much like concentric circles. Here's a relatively good picture of one of my spiral stitched surfaces: http://www.tilkunviilaaja.blogspot.fi/2011/12/ympyratikkausta.html
Love the hexagon circles ~ really wonderful and that poster is great. I thought it was a pieced quilt at first ~ you could totally do that! George ~ what a sweetie!

I love caramel apples, but I always get nervous eating them! I once found half of a very nasty bug in my apple. And I spit the other half out. Now I cut them up before I eat them, better safe than grossed out :)

ReplyDeleteI love your Pyrex picture I have a "little" collection myself...thankfully I also have daughters who love my collection and will happily add some of it to their homes one day! Caramel and apples go so well together don't they! Oh and I love your quilts and I really enjoy visiting your blog :)
