Vintage Sheet Patchwork Prism Quilt
Hi! Today I want to share with you my Vintage Sheet Patchwork Prism Quilt! It's time to dive into summer sewing and for me, that means sewing with vintage sheets! Something about the bright florals scream summer to me. I knew it was time to create another quilt using 100% vintage sheets and the Patchwork Prism pattern by Anna Maria Horner (available here) seemed like just the thing! So, let's chat about this quilt!

I had to dig deep into my personal stash of sheets for this quilt.  Lucky for me, I keep at least a scrap of almost every sheet that passes through my shop, so there was a lot to choose from.  This pattern uses the full rainbow of colors in a range of values.

I had a lot of fun picking out sheets for this quilt, but I will admit, the cutting wasn't all that fun! I wanted to have as much variety as possible, and cutting with templates has never been my favorite! The piecing wasn't too bad, and it wasn't long until I had a finished top!

For backing, I used one of my favorite sheet patterns, a fun multicolored floral. I love using sheets for backing, no piecing or extra work.

It's free motion quilted with my favorite doodle loops! I could have done a better job basting (I was in a bit of a rush), so there are a few wonky places here and there, but nothing a good washing doesn't hide.

Bound it up in a nice stripe (another vintage sheet) and it's all ready for summer picnics. The quilt finishes off at about 70"x76", a nice throw size.

- Piece and quilt using 100% polyester thread (I use Gutermann Sew-all). It moves through the sheets easier, as most of them are 50/50 polyester/cotton blends.
- Use a nice sharp needle and change it often! I like to use universal 14/90 needles for most projects.
- A little extra basting goes a long way!
