Drawstring Bags by jenib320
Drawstring Bags, a photo by jenib320 on Flickr.
Hi there! Apologies for the quietness this week. I got buried in vintage sheets, hehe! Thanks for your support of my sale, it went great! Just a few more orders to get out the door Monday! Okay, here comes a long post! :)

It had been 2 months since I had made any new drawstring bags, but after seeing Terri's, Nova's, and Monica's bags, I got itching to make some more! I made two sizes, the Project size (found in the pattern), and the Everything size (found in the tutorial).  I used a mixture of favorite and new fabrics! I love having new bags to circulate, you can never really have too many.  You can see all the bags close-up and the fabrics I used in my flickr stream: here, here, here, and here!

You can find the tutorial here, and the pattern (with all 8 sizes), here.

Managed some garment sewing this week too! I've been saving this Innocent Crush voile for a while now and it was finally time to use it. Originally I was just going to make a tank, but as I've now accumulated a lot of tanks I thought I'd do something with sleeves! I love the shape of the Wiksten tank, so I added sleeves to it instead of finishing the arm holes.  I used the sleeve from the Scout Tee by Grainline. It actually worked out pretty well!

Pattern: Wiksten Tank by Jenny Gordy, Fabrics: Innocent Crush by Anna Maria Horner.

Sunday Morning Quilts by jenib320

Last night was the Sunday Morning Quilts book signing at The Sewcial Lounge! I got to see Anna and meeting Amanda Jean was so fun, she's super sweet and her quilts are beautiful! I left feeling so inspired to dig into my scraps! And look what else came home with me! A bunny scrap!! I have a bit of this sweet print in pink from Christina, and now a little yellow from Amanda! I do love my bunny fabrics! I spent some more time perusing the book last night, it's really lovely!

I did a little rearranging that allowed me to bring some extra cuteness into my sewing room! I snatched up this vintage Coke crate at a garage sale last summer and it's the perfect size for displaying a few little treasures.  Here is proof that I am 23 going on 5! Hehe :)

The top are Lalaloopsy dolls, then Hello Kitty mega blocks, and finally Unazukin dolls!

  1. Ooh! I'm excited to see what you do with that Farmington print! I just saw that Amber from one shabby chic had some of that fabric as well in different colors. It's gorgeous! And you aren't the only one going on five years old. As we speak I am wondering which Disney movie I should watch tonight while I cut fabric to make a few more of your drawstring bags for birthday gifts this summer :)

  4. One of these days I am going to get some patterns and make myself some clothes again, used to do it all the time when I was young... like you and easy to fit, it might be a big challenge now though. :)
Love the coke crate and what you did with it! Fun. :)

  5. I have that bunny fabric, too! I collect bunny fabrics :) I have a super-special one that I am about to cut up for a special project, and I am all nervous about cutting up my bunny fabric! Does that ever happen to you?

  6. Is that Hello Kitty duct tape too in the picture or is it packing tape? I can't tell in the picture. I love Hello Kitty. I wanted the Mega Block but the kids didn't. I just may have to buy them for myself! Lalaloopsy blends in quite well :)

  11. Hahaha- I love the LaLaLoopsy. I use my daughter (age 1 1/2) as an excuse to buy them. But then I secretly buy doubles or only actually let her open and play with certain ones. Glad I am not the only one who loves these. ;)
