Wow, it ended up being a really slow week around here, didn't it? Sorry about that! I was about to post Thursday and Friday and stuff ended up getting in the way! Oh well, at least this way I have more to show you all! Hope you've been enjoying your weekend so far!
So last night, Amanda posted her finished Scout tee on Instagram (I'm jenib320 on there, if you want to find me!) and it pushed me over the edge! I had seen the pattern around, but hers turned out SO cute, I knew I had to make it! Thankfully, it's a PDF pattern, so in a few minutes I had it printing and was taping it together (PS - did you see Ali's tips for using Print It Yourself patterns?). This morning I pulled out this small gingham from Joanns to make a muslin. When I first finished it, it seemed a bit too boxy, but a good wash and it fits great! I'm excited to make some more!
You can find the pattern here, it's the Scout Tee by Grainline Studios!
Yesterday I finished up the bag I started earlier in the week! The pattern is the Claire bag by Clover and Violet! I used a number of lilac and peachy fabrics, inspired by some of the prints from Weekends by Erin McMorris! The bag is nice and sturdy with lots of room and pockets, and I love the hexagon detail! It's going to house my sewing supplies when I need to transport my sewing to guild sew days or Iowa sew days! :)
You can find the pattern here!
You know how loneliness can somehow hit you out of nowhere? Well, that was me last week! Michael has been working crazy long hours, and my family is far away and suddenly it hit me all at once. Kind words from friends and a few dinners eating takeout at the lab with Mike and I'm feeling better this week. Sweet Darci surprised me with this Mermaid pillow (that I had been oogling on flickr!) to cheer me up! I love it so much, and it looks so fantastic with my Mendocino quilt! Thank you dear, it definitely put a smile on my face! :)
As if that wasn't enough! Look what else arrived! A sweet teacup card from the one and only Nova! It went right up on my inspiration board so I can see it while I sew, it's just too darn cute! Thank you Nova!
I'm playing around with a new pattern that's been on my mind lately, am hoping to cut into this jelly roll of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket this week to make it happen!
You can find Salt Air at Pink Castle Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop!
I spent some time tidying up my stash today, I have a bad habit of stacking it up around the sewing room instead of putting it away! As I was reorganizing I put together all my hand-dyed fabrics. I think I definitely need to make a quilt from these asap!
George :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing today. I hope next week is a better one for you!
Jeni, you are so cute! You look pretty in your top, too. I love the sweetness of your projects and your blog--the predictability of your George pictures and your thankfulness for the little things of life. And lasagna soup?! I've heard of taco soup, but not this!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! We all need alittle cheering up sometimes. I love the bag you made you have been on a roll lately :) xo
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I just bought the scout tee pattern today too!
ReplyDeleteAww, I love it all! What a fun little color pick-me-up for a Saturday night. I've been sitting here soaking up A Field Guide to Fabric Design by Kimberly Kight. So so good.

Your Scout Tee turned out cute. BTW, I love your hand dyed fabrics. You should sign up for the Color Wheel Swap at Sewing Summit (hint, hint) because I'm sure I am not the only one drooling over them! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad those handmade treats made their way to you, they are so sweet especially the Mendocino cushion. Love the lilac and apricot bag, those colours work so well together :))
ReplyDeleteMmmm Lasagna soup sounds really good!

Happy Earth Day, George! xxoo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your hand dyed fabrics - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog - and love your version of the Scout T. I think I'm going to have to print out my pattern again because my first try ended up really small in the armscye and I want to make sure it wasn't my own error! I love your colorful dyed fabrics - so bright and happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginner in sewing and you have shared such an interesting blog post which help me to go one step ahead with my hobby.
ReplyDeleteThose dyed fabrics are the perfect basics, something my stash is seriously lacking. I might need to dust off Malka's book and give it a shot!
