Hi! Hope you're all having a good week so far! It's been a little chilly here, but I did get into the garden yesterday for a bit. Hoping to get back out there later this week! It's going to be a fun week around here!
Do you all know Kelly of Kelbysews? She is holding a fun quilt along that's just started up called My Precious Quilt Along! It most simply encourages you to use fabrics you really love that you've been hoarding or saving. For more information, check out her blog post here and join the flickr group!
As the quilt along will run through the summer, I'm hoping to tackle two quilts. The first will be using the above stacks, Prince Charming and Neptune by Tula Pink. I'll be making a Kaleidoscope quilt with it! The second will be my Park Slope quilt, using the Retro Flowers Pattern!
A week or so ago I shared the Wonky Churn Dash mini quilt I made for a small swap. Last week I received my mini! I was the lucky recipient of this Fairytale Mini made by Darci of Stitches and Scissors! It's already found a place on my sewing room fall, I love how whimsical it is!
Last week was such a good mail week! I also received this sweet mini quilt from Christina of The Sometimes Crafter! Isn't it so crazy awesome?! She knows how much I love vintage enamelware, and most especially the Cathrineholm teapots! She designed and crafted this beautiful mini for my birthday! I am a very lucky girl!! :)
I've been trying to be a bit better about buying fabric lately, but I still can't resist a good sale or a visit to my local quilt shop :)
These came from a destash on etsy, Darci, Bloomerie Fabrics, my local shop, and Joanns!
My seeds are turning into seedlings! I am so excited to have a plot in our community garden this summer! I've started a bunch of seeds in preparation, I can't wait to plant them! :)
George!
Today I love the..
Smell of: Daffodils
Sound of: Wallace & Gromit
Taste of: Peeps
Sight of: Fabric
Feel of: Cozy slippers
Good Things about Today:
- Productive day!
- Sunny!
- Caught up on bee blocks!
- Mini Triscuits!
Its chilly here in Chicago too! Im glad I didn't plant too much in the garden, just Peas, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, lettuce and carrots so far but they are still safe and under the surface. Why is it that most quilters are gardeners too?
ReplyDeleteBe sure to keep George out of your seedlings!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLol..."My Precious' is what I've named my new sewing machine! And yes, it SNOWED briefly up here in SW Ontario today. But, par for the course. I usually get freaky weather on my birthday!
ReplyDeletePretty fabric stacks! So much possibility. :)
ReplyDeleteThe mini you received is very nice. It's always great to get a fun gift like that!
Such a lovely post. Just put a smile on my face. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteCute mini's!! Our house is full of seedlings too, my girls want to grow everything :))
ReplyDeleteOoohhh, Neptune AND Prince Charming together - that is going to be one awesome quilt! I'm thinking I might need to join the My Precious QAL and finally use my Mendocino or first-release FMF.
ReplyDeleteAnd jeez, every time Christina sends you a gift it never fails to blow my mind - that girl is ridiculously talented!
I finally cut into my Prince Charming last week. I have the blue fat quarter stack. Have fun with yours!
ReplyDeleteWe think George has his "eye" on those seedlings.
ReplyDeleteThose minis are awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm so jealous of your little seedlings - I haven't started anything this year... Well, I did plant some grapefruit seeds I found that already had roots. They have a couple leaves, but they're certainly not going to produce anything I can eat this year (or maybe ever).
