I've been working on a fun little project that is full of things that I don't usually do. Templates, lots of curves, and hand quilting. I'm enjoying the slowness of the handwork. Hopefully this project will be ready to share later this week!
This past weekend I finished up my Little Apples quilt top! I used the Sparkling Cider pattern by All Washed Up Quilts and simply added an extra row to make it wider. I'm really happy with how it's turning out so far. Now to piece the backing!
I pulled out my mittens from last year and realized they had a hole in them. I am constantly on the hunt for a good pair of mittens but have not had a lot of luck the last few years. I finally decided this year to make some myself. Since I'm not a proficient knitter, I sewed some using a thrifted wool sweater and this tutorial! Thankfully, they turned out great!
Friday morning I did a big thrifting run, and had awesome sheet luck! 34 sheets and 12 pillowcases mostly from 2 stores! They're all in the shop!
I FINALLY remembered to buy a pickle ornament for my Christmas tree this year! I always remember way too late in the season and everyone is out of them. To top it off it was only $3 and is covered in glitter! Thank you Target! :)

How do you find those sheets, any I see in thrift stores I wouldn't buy because they are so worn. I keep my sheets till they are so thin and then just throw them away. Yours are always so beautiful. Love the "Little Apples" quilt.

ReplyDeleteI am amazed at the amount of sheets that you find up there. Here in Texas, I find a sheet every 4 or so trips thrifting. Once I found 8 sheets, and I thought I had won the lottery.

i had a pickle before... it dropped on our hard wood floor and shattered to bits i was heartbroken. i haven't gotten a new one. and it looks like those old ladies are still cleaning out their houses. i need to move to where you live!

Your site is truly one of my very favorites!!! You always inspire me!! The quilt top.....Wow...it is heaven!! O.k. and that george....that george!!! I just want to pat that sweet little head of his!!! I have 8 kitties and a #9 (outdoor Kitty ) that I care for so I don't think bunnies will work for us...but I sure do love them....and one last thing..... peppermint Hershey's !!!!! ReplyDeleteYou should try loom knitting,very easy! I started a few days ago and have 1/2 a scarf done already. I do not like crocheting or anything related because I COULDN'T get the technique down. BUT with a loom, so much nicer:):):)
I do love that top pic, especially with the multi coloured quilting stitches. Looks very intriguing!

I bought the pickle ornament from pier 1 last year for my husband...he hates pickles but I just love them, so in all reality it was really a present for me!

We do the pickle ornament thing even though my sisters and I rage in age from 31-41 years old! My Mom hides the pickle and then we run out and try to find it. The one who grabs it first, gets a gift. It's still fun (maybe even more fun!) now that we are older.

Nice post - I enjoyed reading it. I've been making mittens from sweaters, too, and have an idea you might like. I steam iron them after they're done, to totally flatten them. I love that look!
