I spent some time last night getting my stash back in proper order. It's come a long way since I last photographed it, so I figured while it was all pretty and organized, might as well! This is about 98% of my quilting cottons, with the exception of a few random prints and an It's a Hoot fat quarter stack. As you can see, I organize most of my stash by color. It is simply the most pleasing and inspiring for me! :)
I'm going to take a minute to direct you to my Art of Choosing series from this past winter for all things stash related, from folding fabric, organizing by color, and putting together color schemes.
Still an overwhelming amount of pink (yay!), and have finally caught up on reds and oranges, both of which I used to have very little of. I just thrifted the big red/white stripe this past weekend!
Yellows and golds are one of my favorite fabric colors, they're just so yummy! I've also been really drawn to greens lately, as you can clearly see!
Some of my favorites in this tub, turquoise and purple! Really loving plum at the moment. And I could just eat those Wonderland scissors, they look so good!
I have somehow amassed a ton of browns, despite the fact that I rarely use brown? Who knows! I have been using gray and have finally gotten a decent selection.
My very favorite bin. All of my Erin McMorris fabrics. Summersault, Weekends, Park Slope (in it's entirety), and Wildwood. Yum, yum, yum.
Solids, Heath and a few other things. Tula Pink's Prince Charming and Neptune, Heather Ross's Mendocino and a yummy collection of paper and text fabrics! Have really enjoyed finding new ones here and there!
Mmm, that's a lot of fabric, I may have a problem! ;) So, there we have it! The stash has been all prettied up and documented! Now it's time to go mess it up!

Wow! I would kill for your awesome collection and how nicely it's organized. Something seriously needs to happen in my sewing room soon! I've got to digging for a specific print and I'm more than a little scared!!!
ReplyDeletedo you cut your fabric to a certain size? i love the storage idea. I'm a long time crafter...new at quilting.....and trying to figure out how to cut a square or strip of fabric off of a yard of fabric is difficult on my mid size cutting mat. Any Tips? I'm afraid if i cut it down ill waste it.

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, it really is hard to cut fabric on a smaller mat! It's been so long since I've had my big one, I can't even remember how I used to cut then!
We just got a new (to me - it's from my mom's storage shed) hutch, and I'm in the middle of doing this! Thanks for the inspiration! :) It really does look pretty.

I have tons of pink and blue but my stash really needs some purple , orange and red.
Very nice! Makes me feel better about mine, lol. I may have just doubled my stash through that insane Fabric.com sale...I place full blame on you and the fact that you opened my eyes to fabric beyond full collections. :)
