Warm Cool Quilt Along - Wrap Up!

This post is a part of the Warm Cool Quilt-Along! Feel free to join in the fun at any time!

I had a lot of fun seeing this quilt come together. Most importantly, I'm happy to have that binding tutorial out of the way, hehe!

I knew that since I had already made a Warm Cool Quilt, that I wanted this one to be a little different. When I choose fabrics, I tried to keep with a more specific value group. I wanted really saturated prints for my Warm colors and somewhat lighter prints for my Cool colors. In addition, I was more careful about choosing prints with compatible accents and such!

When I saw this layout pop up in the flickr group, I knew I had to use it for my quilt. It was just the right amount of different! That is the beauty of half-square triangles, there is so much possibility!

For the backing, I used two Denyse Schmidt dots from her Picnic/Fairgrounds line. I made giant half-square triangles, which after trimming kind of look like a giant snowball block. That wasn't exactly the plan, but I think it's cute!

It took me forever to choose a binding. On my previous warm cool quilt I used a white solid, which I like, but knew I didn't want for this quilt. I auditioned a lot of grays, whites and even a few browns. In the end this dot by Basic Grey won out. It was mostly white, but had a good amount of pattern going on. I think it frames it quite nicely!

This was a fun journey for me! It has been (and will continue to be) so cool to see your quilts and progress! I hope you'll continue to add your photos to the flickr group! I also created a dedicated page for this quilt along.

Thank you for making this a great quilt along and sewing with me, I hope you had fun and learned something new. Please continue to ask questions either here or in the flickr group.

Happy Sewing!
