I did it. I actually completed my project 365. I took at least one photo every single day in 2010. No cheating, no "it's after midnight but I'm still awake" and only a very small handful of "oops it's 10 pm and I haven't taken my photo yet"! I attempted a project 365 in 2008 and failed partially because of lack of motivation and I was living in a dorm (not much to photograph). This time around, I really did it. I am so so happy. I want to get all the photographs printed in a book. Any recommendations? I can't wait to do another year of 365, starting tomorrow! :)
2010 was a huge crafting year for me. I learned to quilt! In mid-March I quilted my very first quilt. Now I can't imagine not quilting. I made a lot of sewing strides this year and participated in a lot of swaps. I am so happy that sewing has become such a large part of my life. It's led me to some of the most amazing people. I am so thankful for my wonderful online quilty friends! :)
2010 brought on a treasure trove of vintage goodies! Pyrex, enamelware and later in the year, tons and tons of vintage sheets! I also opened up my shop, which has had such a great response, thank you all for your support!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!
See you all next year! ;)

I finally found my floss winder while I was home for Christmas! After all the presents were made I spent time winding all my floss. Now it's nice and organized! I've been working on the sweet cocoa cross stitch by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery! I was very lucky to find this ridiculously cute needle holder in my mailbox from Rachel of Stitched In Color (if you aren't familiar with her blog, go check it out, it's fantastic!)! How adorable is it?! A sweet George bunny on it!! Thank you Rachel, that was so thoughtful of you, I love it!
Santa brought turquoise Kobenstyle! We found these two pieces at an antique store this summer and Mom set them away for Christmas! I was supposed to forget about them, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought of them pretty much everyday!
Santa also brought a set of Swiss Chalet vintage dishes!! I have been collecting bits and pieces here and there and I think I finally have enough to actually put together a decent set! :)
I've reopened the shop and added a few new goodies!
A little George video from Christmas morning! He loves paper so I let him unwrap his present but he got bored pretty quickly!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday! Thank you for all the love on my vintage sheet quilt! I have been snuggling under it every night! I'll be looking back on 2010 in the next few days, so stay tuned! :)
Today I love the..
Smell of: Nothing, I have a cold!
Sound of: Monk
Taste of: Mint tea
Sight of: A semi-clean apartment
Feel of: Warm quilts
Good Things about Today:
- Michael is back from visiting family!
- Clementines!
- Evening nap.
- Mint fudge covered oreos!

Finished up my vintage sheet quilt today! I love the way it turned out! It was a great opportunity to pull together some of my favorite sheets. For this one I used a rainbow of sheets but I'd love to make another using sheets of the same color or type. The pattern is Sparkling Cider by All Washed Up. I made the lap size which is 64"x80". The entire quilt is made of only vintage sheets!
If you'd like to learn more about working with vintage sheets, check out my post: How to Identify, Shop for and Sew with Vintage Sheets
I highly recommend this pattern. It's easy and comes together pretty quickly! I used the recommended quilt in a day template for the stars and the points came out really great! I'll definitely be making more!
For the backing I used one of my favorite sheets that I had been saving. It was so nice not to have to piece anything for the back for once!
I free motion quilted large loops in various sizes. This is my favorite kind of quilting and honestly the only free motion I'm any good at!
For the binding I cut strips off fat quarters for a scrappy look using mostly prints from the quilt.
It must have turned out okay because it didn't take long for Blackie to come over and claim it! :)

I took a break from Christmas present making today to start a little something for myself! I picked up the Venti Mug Rug pattern from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery* last month and decided to pull it out last night. I choose some of my favorite fabrics and a cotton/linen blend. It came together so quickly and is great for scraps! I grabbed some pearle cotton to hand quilt it with this afternoon :)
I finished the Toast BFFs cross-stitch from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery* this morning! I'm so happy with how it turned out! Mine is peanut butter and strawberry jam! Now I just need to make something cute out of it like Christina did! Next I'm going to stitch the Je T'aime Cocoa pattern!
I received the postcards I won along with the Scandinavian Stitches book from Kajsa yesterday! They are SO cute! Now to decide what to do with them! Thanks Kajsa and Christina!
George bunny :)

I made my first Blythe dresses since March 2009 on Thursday and Friday! They needed matching dresses! :)
Back home for the weekend! We have a small artificial tree that we hang all of our family's straw stars on. These two were made by my Grandma's brother's daughter who lives in Germany.

Every year in December I make german paper folded stars. My grandma made them when she was young growing up in Germany. 8 or 9 years ago, with her help and the help of an online tutorial, I learned how to make them. I try to make them every year so that I won't forget. This year I wanted to try something a little different and use fabric! The main issue is, these stars are made of strips and they need to be double sided. On my first attempt I used no interfacing and folded the strip in half than unfolded and folded the raw edges to the center. It was way too thick and had no sturdiness. On my second attempt I used lightweight interfacing, folded over each strip and zig-zag stitched the edges. Finally, I tried Heat-n-Bond with two single layers of fabric! I bonded the fabrics together then cut the strips. I am SO happy with how it turned out! Now I can make lots of fun fabric ones! :) This is the tutorial I use to refresh my memory each year! It has a lot of great photos, and you can even order star paper from there too!
After seeing all the beautiful ornaments that Holly has been making, I knew I had to try it out! I am happy with how it turned out, but I don't think I have the paitence for too many! So much folding and too many pins! :) Here is the tutorial: Folded Fabric Star
I made some more Noodlehead Gathered Clutches for some birthday gifts! They are a big hit! :)
