Blogger's Quilt Festival
Today is the beginning of Amy's Bloggers Quilt Festival! I am sharing the most recent quilt that I finished and my current favorite, my Castle Peeps Plus quilt. Last year in studio art, we did a section on tessellations. After creating one of my own, I thought it would be fun to make a tessellating quilt! The tessellating plus is not a new pattern, it's been around for a long time. I had been saving my FQ stack of Castle Peeps by Lizzy House for something special and this was just the project!
I probably could have found an existing method for constructing this quilt, but I decided to work up measurements and a method my own way. This worked fairly well with the exception of one minor cutting issue in the beginning! A single plus requires 5 squares, not 4! ;)
Up until this point I had mostly free motion quilted. For this quilt I knew it needed straight-line. I quilted 1/4" on the side of each seam, horizontally and vertically. It had it's share of issues, but all in all I was happy with how to all came together! This was the first time that I quilted using colored thread! I went with chartreuse to help highlight the green prints, which were my favorite :)
If anyone is interested, I created a tutorial with my measurements and way of doing it. Also instructions for the pieced scrappy back! You can find it here
Thanks for stopping by!

This Week
I'm back from a very busy school week! I actually didn't intend to take a break at all, but it just sort of happened! There were papers due, tests to take, and a novel to read. Next week shouldn't be quite so bad!
I'm so close I can taste it! Was just able to set up a swap for some brown sisters then I'll just need presentation in blush! Can't wait to share my plans for these lovelies!
Baked these yummy Lemon Ricotta Cookies as per Susan's suggestion! They're delicious! And super lemony!
Adding more vintage pillowcases to the shop tonight and tomorrow! I've also reduced prices on many of the fat quarters! :)
Today I love the..
Smell of: Vanilla
Sound of: Simon & Garfunkel
Taste of: Tacos from Maya
Sight of: Neat fabric stacks
Feel of: Warm boots
Good Things about Today:
- Managed to sew a little tonight!
- The worst of this week is now over!
- Received my pumpkin cake lipbalm from Haunt today!
- Finally remembered to get the vintage tupperware soaking!

Sunday
No, this is not deja vu! I found ANOTHER pink pyrex bowl today! Now I only need the smallest (401) bowl! So happy :)
I've swapped some of my Flea Market Fancy prints for the pink/gold/brown prints. I'll be using them to make a special mini quilt sometime soon!
Basted my Vintage Sheet Sparkling Cider quilt today! With kitty's help of course!
I've been stocking a lot of vintage pillowcases in the shop lately! There are some really fun projects that use pillowcases, and they yield two fat quarters worth of fabric! :)
George baby!
Today I love the..
Smell of: Crisp fall air
Sound of: George working on his box
Taste of: Lemon cookies
Sight of: A clean apartment
Feel of: Soft quilt
Good Things about Today:
- Found more pink pyrex!
- Managed to get back to the apartment at a good time.
- Had good photo light today.
- George! :)

Happiness is Pink Pyrex
If you're a frequent reader, you may have noticed that I have had zero luck with Pyrex lately. That all changed today, FINALLY! I could not believe my eyes when I came upon these two bowls at a Volunteer's of America thrift store. As I got closer, I realized that for pink, they were in fantastic condition. After seeing the price, I felt faint. A 404 and a 403 for $4.97 and $3.97. Yes, please, I'll take two!
I also picked up a few vintage fabrics along the way!
Yesterday, I went back for this beauty. She's in pretty bad condition, but it's one of my favorite patterns, I just couldn't leave it!
Stopped by one of my favorite shops today, Hollo's Papercraft! It's fantastic. Also picked up this adorable fat quarter from JoAnns!
I didn't take any fall photos last year, so I figured I better get out an snap a few before all the leaves are gone!
Today I love the..
Smell of: Fresh laundry
Sound of: George running about!
Taste of: Cereal
Sight of: Pyrex
Feel of: Warm fleece pullover
Good Things about Today:
- PINK PYREX!
- Good progress on thesis work today
- It's only 5:30 and I've done 3 loads of laundry!
- Going to make these tonight!

Wordy Wednesday
Thanks to some great swaps, I've been building up my Mendocino stash! This line is slowly becoming one of my very very favorites! I was so excited to snatch up a 10 FQ bundle online last night!
My Mendocino quilt (once I get the rest of the mermaids and presentation prints) will be partially inspired by this stack! More to come once I've collected everything! :)
My inspiration board is always changing.
Sheets, sheets, and more sheets!
My Unazukin and Hello Kitty Toy collections!

300th
Still head-over-heels for the beautiful pillow that I received from Kerri for the Urban Home Swap. Her quilting amazes me! So perfect! :)
I'm currently working on a patchwork apron using some Domestic Diva by Riley Blake. For as much as I love to bake, I do not have a handmade apron! That needed to be remedied immediately!
Received some delicious mail today, thanks to some lovely fabric swaps! :)
Made another batch of Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. I could eat these everyday!
George sure does love his corner! :)
Thank you all for your response on the Warm vs. Cool quilt. I'll be coming up with something soon!
Today I love the..

Updates!
In addition to all the new sheets I've been finding lately, I restocked the shop with a few older ones! I hadn't realized how much of them I had left! :)
I've been slowly updating the look of the blog lately! I moved the tutorials, recipes, and pyrex series links to the bar under the header! This helps de-clutter the sidebar a bit!
I have been thinking about making another Warm vs Cool colored half-square triangle mini quilt. Would anyone be interested in a little quilt-along or further explanation of the fabric/color selection process? Be honest!
