Vintage Sheets
My vintage sheet collection is out of control! So to help remedy that and share some wonderful vintagey goodness with you all, I have listed some fat quarters and charm packs of vintage sheets in my Etsy Shop! I will be continuing to cut through some of my stash over the next few weeks!
I think I had the most fun cutting up the charm packs! As I cut into more sheets, the packs will become more diverse!

Castle Peeps Purse
I made my Castle Peeps purse this weekend! The pattern is the Emma Day Bag by Grand Revival Designs that I won along with the fabric from I have to say.... You can purchase the pattern by itself or as a kit over at her shop, Fresh Squeezed Fabrics!
Overall I am really happy with how it turned out! I was a little unsure about how the fabrics would work on a purse but I am SO glad I went with my gut!!
There are a lot of pattern pieces but it wasn't too bad because I broke up the cutting over two nights. I traced the pieces onto freezer paper and temporarily fused them to the fabric. This made the cutting SO much easier. I'll always do this now.
The pattern suggests using canvas, twill, or duck cloth for interfacing and hand baste it to all the pieces. I hate basting so I used fusible fleece instead. It worked great! There were a few places where I probably should have trimmed down the seams, so I'll have to do that next time. I'll also make the lining pieces slightly smaller than the exteriors pieces next time. There is a healthy dose of loose lining in the bag. Nothing major, just a change for next time!
I also attached the magnetic snap and pocket before assembling the lining completely. Otherwise I followed the pattern! :)

Hope Valley Quilt
Finished up my Hope Valley quilt today! After seeing another lovely HV quilt, I was re-motivated to finish mine. I am also really anxious to start working on my Castle Peeps quilt and wanted to finish this one before starting another. The quilting is very minimal. I am still trying to figure out what I like, so now I have this very light quilting to compare to the quilt I heavily free-motioned. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I am very happy with how the binding turned out this time. I finally got my seam allowances correct, and even the back looks good! :)
I knew that I wanted the color-ways to be separated. I love this line, but don't like it much when the color-ways are mixed. I asked for pattern suggestions and finally decided on a coin quilt. I enjoyed the piecing, but once the quilt was complete I wasn't motivated to quilt and finish it.
I may need to add a little more of the stripes to my stash, they became one of my favorites in the collection!
Clearly I need a walking foot! I'll definitely be picking one up before I have to quilt my yet to be made Castle Peeps quilt.

Tutorial: How to Remove the Smell of Smoke from Fabric
A few months ago I purchased some fabric online and when it arrived, it reeked of smoke. I cannot stand the smell of smoke, so I knew I needed to find a way to fix it asap! It took me a while to find the perfect ingredient to remove the smell, so I thought I'd share my process here!
I tried warm soapy water, detergent, Oxyclean, ammonia (this stuff smells awful itself!). Nothing helped. Until I tried vinegar!
It doesn't take much, or anything fancy! Depending on the amount of fabric you have it may take a lot of vinegar, but that's okay, because it's cheap! This method can also be used to help set colors in fabric and prevent running.
Materials:
Bowl or container big enough to hold your fabric
Hot water
White vinegar
*Your vinegar/water ratio should be around 1 part vinegar for every 3 parts water.
1. Unfold your fabrics, you want them to be completely drenched in the bath.
2. Fill your container with hot water with enough water to cover your fabric.
3. Add your vinegar.
4. Add your fabric.
5. Let the fabric soak for an hour and then check it. If it still smells pretty strongly, add more vinegar and let it continue to soak.
6. When the fabric no longer smells of smoke, wash it as you usually would!
As an added bonus, your fabric will be smell-free and really soft! Vinegar is a natural fabric softener.
Disclaimer: These recommendations are based on my personal experience. If you're nervous about potentially damaging your fabric, please test a small swatch before continuing. I have never experienced any issues with this method.
